Novalunar Orbit
From the incredible havoc utterly wreaked by the Tempest, not even Novaluna's considerable pre-catastrophe spacefaring infrastructure was spared; whatever the Tempest did, installations as far out as Navacasha's other moons were affected. Yet humanity's resurgence saw the skies beyond conquered once more, salvaging and building upon its predecessor's derelict remains. Of Novaluna's 27 factions, seven unquestionably dominate space, a further four of which exist moreso above Novaluna than upon it.
Hadron Corps
Enabled by its uniquely capable aerospace technologies, in its goal to construct and maintain a secure military presence that spans all scopes of humanity the Hadron Corps has expanded its remit into orbit as well. From three primary Hadron Corps Orbital Stations (HCOSs) and numerous auxiliary units, the Hadron Corps is able to project hard power both back onto Novaluna's surface, across its exosphere, and far beyond. In particular, its close alliances with Arc-Angel United and the Zenith Foundation extend well into this realm.
HCOS Comet
The HCOS Comet is the Hadron Corps' primary orbital installation for extranovalunar operations. The largest of its three major stations, the Comet is a self-sufficient carrier-station capable of disengaging from orbit and traveling elsewhere in Navacasha's orbit or to other parts of the Neoilius planetary system.
HCOS Sentinel
The HCOS Sentinel is dedicated chiefly to projecting power within the confines of Novaluna's gravitational influence; as a result, given the highly contested nature of this theatre of warfare, of the three primary stations the Sentinel carries the largest contingent of combat-capable personnel and materiel.
HCOS Skylance
The HCOS Skylance is the smallest and lightest of the HCOSs, as its purpose as an orbit-to-surface engagement platform demands it be able to shift orbital trajectories quickly. Towards this role, the Skylance carries the facilities for dropping troop units from orbit as well as powerful anti-surface weaponry.
Exclave Vistora
Unlike the rest of its spacefaring ilk, Exclave Vistora's major presence in orbit is the result of neither central ambition nor necessity, but simply the outcome of such an incomparably vast, advanced, and chaotic society's growth ever upward. Like a crystal nucleating from a speck of dust, Vistora's massive network of stations in synchronised orbit is the aggregate result of its countless internal forces establishing bases in space for one reason or another, building up to yet another sectoral arm of the teeming hypercity's sprawl.
Sector Secai
Sector Secai is the collective term for the numerous discrete, Vistora-associated space stations, ships, and satellites present in a single particular orbital trajectory over Novaluna. Most such stations orbit relatively stationary to one another and are capable of interfacing, making for a constantly fluctuating orbital city.
Vocal Star
The only prominent orbital feature of Vistora beyond Sector Secai, Vocal Star is a gigantic installation of mysterious origin and enigmatic purpose. The largest uninhabited artificial satellite around Novaluna, its name and design suggest it houses a division of Vocis, the cryptic Vistoran artificial intelligence.
Arc-Angel United
Given the profit-focused nature of its foremost constituent entities, Arc-Angel United's extensive expansion into outer space stems mostly from its desire to take advantage of the resources and conditions offered by Novaluna's orbit and beyond. To this end, Arc-Angel United extracts feedstock from Navacasha and its various other, uninhabitable moons for downstream usage or sale, as well as manufactures numerous goods and conducts valuable research in orbital microgravity conditions.
Galgallim
Much of Arc-Angel United's permanent orbital infrastructure is concentrated in the massive, multifarous space station Galgallim. Among its many roles, it acts as a transshipment port for offworld passenger and freight transit, a hub for microgravity research and manufacturing, and a military installation.
Regenesis Society
Of the four Novalunar factions with a majority of their population and infrastructure in orbit, the Regenesis Society is the most diminutive by a broad margin. Encompassing what is little more than an exoatmospheric mega-resort, the Regenesis Society's presence in outer space is primarily for the purpose of isolation; the wealthy elites that belong to it, while paying lip-service to the society's long-aborted original goal of conspiracy-borne world reunification, acknowledge it is now hardly more than a terrestrially aloof social club.
Genesis Station
Both Genesis Station and its service spaceport Genesis Landing are contiguous with their Ante-Tempest namesakes, although both have since been repurposed into Novaluna's most sophisticated and luxurious resort complex, furnished with endless hedonistic amenities and effectively nothing else.
Golden Immortals
Equipped, even in the aftermath of the Tempest, with spacefaring technology and infrastructure unrivaled by almost anyone else, the Golden Immortals took to the exosphere the instant they rediscovered the capability to do so. Considering outer space their realm of belonging, where they could flourish and dominate, the Golden Immortals established nearly the totality of their society in orbit. Wholly disinterested in telluric affairs, their surface presence is almost negligible, as they repudiate almost all engagement with it.
Spire
Comprising nearly the sum total of all that are the Golden Immortals, the vast orbital megacity of Spire is the single largest space-based structure in the Neoilius planetary system. Though renowned for the beauty of its civilian façade, its incredibly advanced defense integrations protect it against oft-incurred attack.
Solarian Covenant
In the grand historicist narrative of Solarism, the Solarian Covenant's uniquely militant religious faith, their ascent to the starry heavens was one of the most important stages in their collective holy mission. Utilising the spacefaring technology left to them from before the Tempest, the Solarian Covenant left the bounds of a world they consider sinful and, in their Temple-Citadels, cemented themselves as a premier orbital power. Yet in their aggressive pursuit to cleans the world of sin, they frequently make war on the surface and above.
Ziggurat
Stationed high in geosynchronous orbit overhead of the Solarian Covenant's moonside territories, Ziggurat is the largest of the Temple-Citadels in population and physical size, acting as the Solarian Covenant's capital city and thus where the most vital organs of its government and religious hierarchy are based.
Cathedral
One of the Solarian Covenant's six massive, heavily armed, and heavily fortified Temple-Citadels, Cathedral is equipped with the unique and potent ability to descend from and ascend back into orbit to directly engage enemies in-atmosphere, a capability found nowhere else besides the Hadron Corps.
Atashcadeh
Atashcadeh carries the heaviest onboard armaments of the Temple-Citadels, tonne for tonne sporting more firepower than even the HCOS Skylance; coupled with its ability to engage both surface and orbital targets, it is a virtual superweapon of nearly unprecedented power and versatility.
Masdjid
As the Temple-Citadel with the heaviest and most advanced fortifications, Masdjid is frequently used as an orbital bunker in which many of the Solarian Covenant's important functionaries are hosted, as well as where the (few) Solarians unfit for conscription are transferred should the other Temple-Citadels fall under attack.
Mandir
Well-equipped for hosting and deploying troops and materiel all across Novaluna, Mandir is a hybrid between orbital city and military ultracarrier of the sort only the Solarian Covenant could produce. Ever-important in the Covenant's incessant warring, it houses the bulk of its tremendous military forces.
Pagoda
Equipped with the best of the Solarian Covenant's hardlight technology infrastructure, Pagoda is the thrumming engine of its resource collation, manufacturing, research, and logistics systems, fuelling its constant crusade with an endless stream of cutting-edge military equipment.
Zenith Foundation
Disdainful of terrestrial (and low-orbit) Novaluna's many incessant squabbles as petty and useless, the Zenith Foundation's retreat into the outer reaches of Novalunar orbit and beyond is largely so its own agenda of scientific discovery remains undisturbed. Although it does not spurn peaceful interaction with the rest of the world, the Zenith Foundation's basis in medium orbit and far beyond serves to physically isolate it from much of the rest of Novaluna; its most remote installations reach to the far end of the Neoilius system.
Meridian
The largest and most populous of the Zenith Foundation's space stations in orbit around Novaluna, Meridian serves as its de-facto capital, housing most of its governing functions as well as the majority of Foundation activities not directly related to research and development.
Azimuth
Azimuth is the Zenith Foundation's dedicated facility for top-secret research to be kept away from prying eyes. Built atop and into the substrate of a captured asteroid, Azimuth is equipped with state-of-the-art anti-espionage equipment, defense garrisons, and propulsion drives allowing it to flit in and out of orbit.
Horizon
In contrast to Azimuth, Horizon is the Zenith Foundation's primary platform for scientific liaison with the rest of the world, conducting much of the Foundation's open, collaborative research, facilitating its trade and exchange, and by extension acting as the Foundation's main arm of diplomacy.
Nadir
Furnished with the facilities for rapid travel around and exploration of the Neoilius system, Nadir is unique among all of Novaluna's scientific apparatus for its sole dedication to investigating the Tempest, making it the most advanced research vessel-cum-station of its kind ever constructed.
